When you're going to install a Zylinc solution from scratch, on new servers in a non-clustered single-tenant environment, this and the following eleven pages describe the steps required to install the basic services that a Zylinc solution always requires.

Expect the whole process to take at least a day, in some cases more.

  • You can choose which product you want to install, for example, Attendant Console, Contact Center, or Service Center, or you can choose to make all of them available to users, if you have the required licenses.

  • Administration Portal, Statistics Portal, and Wallboard.

  • You can use Internet Explorer to access any of the Zylinc web portals from the Windows application server. There's no need to download a third-party browser.

  • ZyDesk client software on the application server, so that you can use it to test and set up the system.

  • User name and a password so that you can log in to ZyDesk client software as an agent, and test and set up client features.

  • A voice queue. You can use a softphone to call the number that you've assigned to the queue, so that you can test its features, for example music on hold, opening hours, and audio announcements.

  • When you log in to the client software as an agent, you can answer calls from the voice queue. You don’t need a third-party PBX for this, because you can use the ZyDesk softphone.

  • Several recommended support tools on the Zylinc Windows Application Server, for example SQL Server Management Studio, Notepad++, LDAP browser, and Wireshark.

  • One Windows Server 2016. We refer to it as the Zylinc Windows Application Server, with the name WinAppServer.

  • The bootable ISO image that Zylinc provides to install the Media Server. The Media Server is based on Debian Linux and contains an instance of Asterisk PBX. We refer to the Media Server with the name MediaServer.

  • We describe how to install SQL Server 2017 Express, co-located on the Windows Application Server. All references to MS SQL Server in the following are therefore references to the host WinAppServer. You can install other editions of MS SQL Server on other servers or clusters if you want, or you can use an existing supported installation of MS SQL Server on your organization’s network. In those cases, you should change the references to the SQL Server accordingly.

WinAppServer: A Windows application server with the following configuration:

  • MS SQL Server service

    • Default instance on port 1433.

    • Mixed Mode Authentication.

    • ZyDB database. Contains all Zylinc system configuration.

    • ZyStatDB database. Contains historical information about calls/e-mails/chats handled via Zylinc queues.

    • SA user:

      • Useful when you need to administer SQL Server.

      • SQL Server Authentication.

      • Sysadmin role.

    • ZyUser user:

      • Service account used by all services in the Zylinc solution.

      • SQL Server Authentication.

      • Db_owner role in ZyDB and ZyStatDB databases.

        For security reasons, don’t use the sa account (user name: sa).

  • Java
    • Apache Tomcat instance 1

      • HTTP port 8080 and HTTPS port 8443

      • Zylinc Authentication Server

      • Zylinc Client Manager

      • Zylinc ZyCore ID

    • Apache Tomcat instance 2

      • HTTP port 8081

      • Zylinc Statistics Portal

      • Zylinc ZyDataServices (incl. Wallboard)

  • Windows Services

    • Zylinc ZyGo

    • Zylinc Service Manager

    • Zylinc Queue Manager

  • Applications
    • Zylinc ZyDesk with, for example:
      • Attendant Console profile
      • Contact Center profile
      • Service Center profile

    • Zylinc Deployment Manager. A GUI to install/upgrade/administer Zylinc software and third-party software

MediaServer: A Debian Linux server, with the following software:

  • Asterisk service. A PBX that handles voice telephony. For example, plays music on hold, answers calls, and transfers calls from queues to agents.

  • Java
    • Apache Tomcat instance

      • Zylinc Administration Portal

      • Zylinc ZyQadmin. A web based tool to administer the server.

  • AdminCLI. A command line interface. Useful when you need to enter commands to set up Media Server, or to view technical information about the server.
