Customize ZyDesk language files

This topic describes how to customize the language files used by the ZyDesk applications (Zylinc Attendant Console, Contact Center, and Service Center).
ZyDesk language files are also known as ZyDesk language tokens.
We recommend that you don't change the language files, but a few organizations prefer to be able to customize some button texts, etc. in the user interfaces of their ZyDesk clients. They can do that by making custom edits to the text strings in the ZyDesk language files, but the downside of making such custom edits is that they risk being overwritten during upgrades.

If you use ZyDesk to Send en besked til nogen, and you want to edit the texts used by its Autotext feature, you’ll need to change your ZyDesk language files.
To change your ZyDesk language files, you can use Deployment Manager to export the language to a text file. Make a copy of that file and use a text editor to make edits only to the copy. Leave the original file intact and make sure that you keep both files for your records. When you're done with your edits, you can use Deployment Manager to re-import the edited file.
You’ll need to keep both files, because future upgrades may overwrite the language tokens that you've changed. Because of that, you’ll need to know which lines you changed. When you have both files available, you can use a file comparison tool, for example Winmerge, to compare them and display only the changes. With that information you can re-apply the same changes after an upgrade.
-
In the Deployment Manager menu, select Database > ZyDB > Language.
-
In Export Language, select the language that you want to edit, click Export, and save the file for future reference. For example, you can save the file as C:\Zylinc install\backup\original_ZyDesk_language_EN on the Windows application server.
-
Make a copy of the file. For example, you can copy the file to C:\Zylinc install\backup\customized_ZyDesk_language_EN
-
Open the copy of the file in a text editor, and make your custom edits to the copy.
To change the texts used by the Autotext feature, search for phonemessage_, and make the required changes.
Don't delete any lines. If you want to remove a text string, set its value = null
Text inside [ ] are variables. You can move variables inside a string, or remove them, but you mustn't change the text within the brackets. -
When you've saved your edits, go to the Deployment Manager menu, and select Database > ZyDB > Language
-
In Import Language, select Custom, click Browse, and select the file that you edited.
-
Click Compare, select all rows, and click Upload.
If you need to change more than one language, repeat this procedure for your remaining languages.
