In Zylinc version 6.5, the Zylinc Media Server has been upgraded to use Asterisk version 13.
The new version provides various bug fixes and other improvements that make the Asterisk software PBX work better and faster. For example:
- New SIP stack
- New SIP stack uses multi-threading instead of single-threading.
- You can now use P-Served-User Header to specify who to bill, instead of the legacy way, where you use Diversion Header to specify billing information.
- Support for option tag 100rel (reliability of provisional responses) in the require header field, and the Provisional Response ACKnowledgement (PRACK) method. This can give the receiving end more time to allocate resources for improved quality of service.
- New option to identify which SIP trunk settings to use when a call is received. The detection uses the hostname or IP address that the call is received from to match trunk settings. When a call can’t be matched to a specific trunk, default settings will be used
- Support for more audio codecs can provide agents with a huge audio quality boost if agents use Skype for Business, other third-party phones, or softphones that support higher quality audio codecs.
