Prepare the environment
This information is primarily for administrators and/or people who manage Zylinc solutions

-
In your virtualization environment, create a new virtual server that'll host Zylinc Windows Application Server.
-
Install and update Windows Server operating system on the new virtual server.
-
Enable Windows Remote Desktop Connection or similar ability to manage the server remotely.
-
Turn off Windows firewall, or alternatively use this Excel spreadsheet to configure the required firewall rules:

-
In your virtualization environment, create a new Linux server that will host Media Server. If you're using VMware, select Other Linux 2.6.x. 64 bit for Guest Operating System Type.
-
Download the latest version of Zylinc Media Server ISO image (switch_install.iso). If you have Zylinc partner credentials, you can download it from Zylinc software download. If you don't have Zylinc partner credentials, get the software from your Zylinc system integrator.
-
Mount the ISO image, and prepare the new virtual server to boot from the ISO image, but don’t boot the virtual server yet.

-
On the Zylinc Windows Application Server, create a folder C:\Zylinc install
-
Download the latest version of the Zylinc release (Release_6.5u4.12.zip) to the folder C:\Zylinc install. If you have Zylinc partner credentials, you can download it from Zylinc software download. If you don't have Zylinc partner credentials, get the software from your Zylinc system integrator.
You can’t use the zip files that have HFOnly in their names.
- Check that the zip that you just downloaded isn't blocked by the operating system:
Right-click the downloaded file, and select Properties
If the file is blocked, you'll see a box named Unblock, next to Read-only and Hidden. In this case, select Unblock, and click OK
- Extract the downloaded zip archive:
Right-click the downloaded file, and select Extract All…
Click Extract

Download and install these third-party tools on the Zylinc Windows Application Server:
-
Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
-
Notepad++ 64-bit x64.
-

-
Wireshark 64-bit.
-
Putty. It’s a part of the Zylinc release.
-
You can start putty.exe from this path:
C:\Zylinc install\Release_6.5u4.12\Release_6.5u4.12\3_Application_Server\01_Platform\putty.exe
-
You can then pin Putty to the taskbar or start menu.
-
In Host Name (or IP address), enter the hostname of your Media Server, for example: MediaServer
-
In Saved Sessions, select Default Settings and click Save
-
You can’t connect yet, because Media Server isn't installed at this stage
